How to Play Blackjack Switch
No one knows exactly when Blackjack Switch began, but no matter its origin, the game is certainly here to stay, as it has turned into one of the most popular variants of the classic card game.
If you have never played this game before you might be surprised at the rule changes, but the important thing to consider is that all of them favor the player.
When you sit down and play Blackjack Switch you will see that there are two betting areas. The reason for this is that you play with two hands simultaneously.
The game begins when the bets are made. As you are handed the two sets of cards, you are given the option of switching them with each hand. The benefit of this is obvious: if you hold A9 on the right and J8 on the left, you can move the Jack with the Ace and end up with a natural. This translates to more winning hands.
After the switch is made or declined, play resumes as in traditional Blackjack games with each hand played distinctly. If you want to split, it can be done, but only one time per hand; re splitting is not an option. If the game ends in a tie the result is a push, not a loss for you. The casino dealer's second card is also up, providing you with the option of using card counting techniques or the strategies you use with hard or soft hands.
Other options, like doubling down and the insurance bet, are also permissible. The number of times you can double your wager in Blackjack Switch though, will depend on the rules of the venue; most do not deviate from the usual game, but read the instructions to be sure (which are situated near the table itself).
The Blackjack Switch table also has a section called "super match". Here you have the option to bet if anyone has been dealt a pair. Ordinarily the odds would not be good, but in this case a pair can be from either hand (i.e., if someone is dealt a K7 and 67, that constitutes a pair). You make the bet at the beginning of the game, and it is at the conclusion that the dealer checks for pairs from any players.
Today almost all casinos, both in Las Vegas and on the Internet, offer the Blackjack Switch variant, as the number of people demanding for the game continues to swell. All the player friendly rules make this a must try for novices, and even those that only play the traditional game should give this a go.
